Pakistan Postage Stamps - 1979

The year 1979 commenced with the Prophet Muhammad's Birth Commemoration that falls on the 12th Rabi-ul-Awal. The stamp showed the Holy Qur'an, and light emanating out of it engulfing the globe and the Masjid e Nabvi in Medina, Saudi Arabia.
 10 February 1979: 
 25 February  1979: The 30th Anniversary of All Pakistan Women's Association (APWA)
23 March  1979: Pioneers of Freedom
  The stamps showed portraits of Sultan Tipu Sultan, and Sir Syed Ahmed Khan
 17 June  1979: Fauna (Pheasants)
Kalij Pheasant, Cheer Pheasant, Koklass Pheasant and Himalayan Monal Pheasant  



Each year on 21st of July a set of three stamps was issued simultaneously by Pakistan, Iran and Turkey to commemorate the anniversary of the Regional Co-operation for Development (RCD). This year the theme was the rural areas of these three member countries: 
The 40p stamp showed a village scene painting by famous Pakistani painter and maestro Ustad Allah Baksh, the 75p stamp showed a painting of a goldsmith by Iranian painter Ghafari Khan.  The Rs.1.60 stamp showed a harvest time paining by Namik Ismail of Turkey.
