Pakistan Postage Stamps - 1987

Pakistan Air Force is one of the mst formidable, battle hardened air forces of the world. It started with a very humble background and equipment at the time of the independence of Pakistan, but as years gone by some of the best air marshals like Air Marshals Asghar Khan and Nur Khan transformed the Pakistan Air Force from turboprop to jet engined fighter aircrafts like F-86s Sabers in the 1950s to F-140s (the first country outside NATO to acquire these faster than the speed of sound Starfighters) in the 1960s and F-16s in the 1980s.

Pakistan Post issued a 10-stamps sheet covering the period of its evolution to its maturity covering a period of 1947-1987.

 14 August: The 40th Anniversary of Independence

  The set of 10 stamps was issued on 7th September which is celebrated as the air Force Day.


Pakistan is country which is a tourists haven. It offers 1200 kilometres long sea shore along the Arabian sea, vast stretches of deserts and green fields and snow covered mountains wit6h five of the 14 Eight Thousanders located in its North. The Karakoram Highway, the KKH, is one of the eighth wonder of the world which bridges the borders of Pakistan and China t the height of 15,397 ft (4,693 m) above sea level. The set of four stamps depicts the KKH issued on 1 October 1987.

31 December: Radio Pakistan's New Concept of Broadcasting
