Postage Stamps of Pakistan - 2017

In 2017, Pakistan Post issued stamps on twelve occasions throughout the year, mostly commemorative stamps. Herein under is the detail:

Pakistan is one of the lucky countries to have five of the fourteen eight thousanders located in the Karakoram and Himalaya mountain ranges in Pakistan. Four of the five peaks are located in the Karakoram mountain range and "Nanga Parbat", the fifth one located in the Himalaya mountain range. 
On 1 January 2017 on the eve of International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, Pakistan Post issued a set of four stamps showing the four eight thousanders of the Karakoram mountain range. The right most stamp depicts the K2 or the Austin Godwin, which is the second highest peak after the Mt. Everest. Read more about the Five Eight Thousanders.

Sir Syed Ahmed Khan (October 17, 1817 – 27 March 1898) was a teacher, politician, philosopher and a social reformer during the time of British India. He founded the school that would later become Aligarh Muslim University to encourage Muslims to study modern sciences and English language to compete in competitive posts and improve their social life.
On 17 October 2017 on the eve of the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Syed Ahmed Khan, 1817-1898, a set of four commemorative sets was issued to acknowledge his service for the improvement of life of Muslims in the British India.

Dr Ruth Katharina Martha Pfau was a German born messiah who spent her entire life treating lepers in Pakistan. She started her small clinic in the then slums of Karachi and started the treatment of Leprosy patients, a disease which at that time was one of the most incurable disease with very few doctors or facilities for its treatment. With the help of Doctor I K Gill, she laid the foundation of the  Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre and formal treatment of leprosy started for patients in Karachi initially and then for the rest of Pakistan.  On 3 December 2017 Pakistan Post issued a Rs. 8 denomination stamp in remembrance of Ruth Katharina Martha Pfau (1929-2017)
The last stamps of 2017 was a set of six stamps issued on 8 December 2017 on the eve of the 60th Anniversary of His Highness The Agha Khan. The stamps show various projects undertaken by Agha Khan Foundation to help improve quality of life of children and the poor in the far flung areas of Pakistan.
